New Product Release - Model VMC-RTB-T Series
New Model - VMC-RTB-T
Series |
 |
Monarch Machine Tool announces a new version of it's VMC-RTB product. The VMC-RTB-T features a fully integrated contouring tilt axis and spindle assembly allowing the machine spindle to operate in any position from vertical to horizontal. This axis can be programmed as a full contouring axis or positioned and hydraulically clamped for heavy machining cuts.
This eliminates the need for large rotary tilt tables with large part overhang. The X-axis option is also available on the VMC-RTB-T series machine for a full 5 axis machine platform.
The RTB series machines were originally designed for machining large circular parts in a vertical plane. The addition of the tilt axis now allows for secondary operations on the outside diameter of the part as well as the top surface. Multiple spindle speed options are available based on customer's requirement. |

Monarch Machine Tool to Upgrade Facility
Monarch Machine Tool to Upgrade Facility
Monarch Machine Tool Company today announced a significant upgrade of its manufacturing facility. The company will be reinforcing the floor and adding new cranes in order to handle the much heavier UMB gantry-style machining center models. The company will also be adding new assembly fixtures to allow it to build the gantry bridges independently from their bases. The upgrade to the facility will begin almost immediately and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
Wayne W. Hanna, Monarch's President and CEO, said that Monarch felt it was necessary to invest in improvements to its Cortland facility in order to continue to provide customers with high-quality machine tools with the shortest possible lead time. Hanna stated, "The recent influx of orders for our UMB line of large gantry machining centers has demonstrated the need for a substantial enhancement to our manufacturing space." Hanna anticipated that the new fixtures will cut almost two months out of the manufacturing process.
Commenting on the need to expand so quickly after purchasing the company, James F. Poole, Chairman of Monarch and President of Cygnus Management Group, Monarch's principal investor, stated, "The company's initial performance has more than met our expectations. Clearly, our faith in Monarch was well-founded. We will continue to support the company's need for expansion capital."
Monarch manufactures a complete line of vertical machining centers, vertical traveling column machining centers, and gantry-stlye machining centers. It also imports a line a of high-precision lathes from Germany. |

Monarch Announces Largest Single Order in Its History
Monarch Announces Largest Single Order in Its History
Monarch Machine Tool Company today announced that it had received the largest order for a single machine in the company's history. The order, for one of the company's new products, a vertical traveling-column, gantry-style machining center, was placed by Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control - Dallas, Camden (Ark.) Operations. The machine will be produced in Cortland and is the result of a joint venture between Monarch and Unisign, B.V. of the Netherlands. It is a state-of-the-art machine and represents the latest thinking in machine tool technology. "We're very proud to have the UMB-7 continue the Monarch tradition of supplying high-quality, high-precision, US-made machine tools," said Wayne W. Hanna, President & CEO of Monarch. The machine, which will be delivered later this year, will be used to manufacture parts for Lockheed Martin's defense programs.
Monarch also announced today that it had just closed a second consecutive month of very strong bookings. In addition to Lockheed Martin, large orders were placed by Rolls Royce and the US Government. When combined with orders received in February, the total is greater than half of the amount booked in all of 1999.
Monarch was part of a management buyout in early February. Mr. Hanna said that morale has been very good at the company since the announcement of the buyout. Prior to that time, the future of the company had been in question with its then-parent, Genesis Worldwide Inc., of Dayton, Ohio, actively trying to sell the business. Hanna commented that with the influx of orders and great cooperation being received from the company's employees, the future for Monarch is looking very bright.
Monarch was purchased from Genesis Worldwide Inc. on February 11th with the aid of Cygnus Management Group of Syracuse, NY. The intention of the buyout was to keep Monarch in Cortland, preserving more than 90 jobs and providing a stable environment for the first time in several years. "We wanted to be able to run the company with only its interests and those of our employees in mind," stated Hanna. "The sigh of relief was almost audible," continued Hanna, "and our productivity in the first two months has been outstanding."
Monarch is a manufacturer of high-precision vertical and gantry/bridge-type machining centers used in various manufacturing sectors. Its high-precision equipment serves a large number of manufacturers of capital equipment including General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed Martin and New Venture Gear. Monarch is also the exclusive US representative for Spinner Ultra-Precision CNC turning centers manufactured in Germany.
Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control - Dallas, Camden Operations, is a Department of Defense prime contractor for several major military missile and rocket systems. |

Monarch RTB-X Offers Tilting 50" Table
Monarch Machine Tool Company, Cortland, NY, announces the development of the RTB vertical machining center, an X-axis model of their rotary table VMC series. Monarch RTB's are large-diameter (50" - 96") rotary tables mounted to traveling-column vertical machining centers, and are typically used to machine large cylinders and other circular or offset parts.
The Monarch RTB-X features a 50" rotary table adapted to a base having up to 40" of X-axis travel which enables the machine to perform X and Y axis, as well as C-axis rotary machining operations typical of RTB machining centers.
The RTB-X features an ANSI #50 V-flange, dual-range spindle with a horsepower rating of 50/30 minutes (37.5 hp continuous). The 6000 rpm spindle (10, 12 & 15,000 optional) reaches full horsepower at 350 rpm. Machine strokes are 48" (X axis), 48" (Y axis), 38" (Z axis), and 50" diameter (C axis).
Refrigerated oil pumped through the spindle and gearbox assures a thermal stability to 1 degree ambient. Thirty tool capacity, each to 6" diameter by 16" long, is standard, with a 40 tool changer available. All tools return to their original pockets for easy tool management.
Like other Monarch VMCs, the RTB-X boasts a rugged, heavily-ribbed base for years of reliable, sustained accuracy. Machining accuracies are maintained at +/-.0001" positioning, and +/-.00006" repeatability through the use of Heidenhain® glass scales imbedded in and protected by the base. The GE/FANUC 15I serves as the standard RTB-X CNC control.
Many options are available for the RTB-X allowing customers to customize the machine for specific applications. |
