Monarch Introduces New Zonal Traveling Column
Machining Center at IMTS 2000, Booth A1-8151
The new Monarch Zonal 5 Traveling Column Machining Center features a three-axis
traveling column and a large, flexible work area split for dual independent machining. A
rugged, versatile machine, the Zonal 5 is equipped with a powerful 74-hp, high-speed
25,000-rpm integrated drive spindle and HSK 63 tool interface. Machine travels are X =
118.1", Y = 29.5", and Z =15.7".
The Zonal 5 has been expressly designed for its work zone flexibility. The work
envelope can be used as a single, large work zone, or employed as dual independent work
zones that offer easy, ergonomic access for loading and unloading parts. As a result, one
machine zone can be loaded while the other machine zone is in full production, nearly
eliminating load and unload time. With its vertical clamping front, the Zonal 5 enables
the use of specialized fixtures, rotary tables, and horizontal angular tables for
specialized application requirements.
The Zonal range of machines has been very successful in many aerospace, automotive, and
job shop related applications. Selected machine models offer 40 & 50 ISO taper or HSK
63 spindles to 25,000 rpm, tool storage ranges from 35 to 51, 4th and 5th axis rotary
tables, and a carousel turning station are also available as options. The Monarch Zonal
series offers X-axis travels from 63" to 708", Y-axis travels from 15.7" to
39.3" and Z-axis travels from 15.7" to 25.6".
The Zonal 5 demonstration at IMTS 2000 will feature high-speed machining of aluminum in
two independent work zones, utilizing fully-enclosed guarding.
In addition to the Zonal product line of machines, Monarch offers over 20 different
models of vertical machining centers. The Monarch VMC product line ranges from the VMC-45B
model, X=30", Y = 18", Z=24" to the Gantry Style UMB 7 featuring travels up
to X=708", Y=181" and Z=47.2". Monarch machining centers are complemented
by ultra-precision, small-footprint CNC Lathes manufactured by Spinner Machine Tool of
Sauerlach, Germany. With the three product lines, Monarch can provide complete
manufacturing solutions to customers' machining requirements.
Monarch continues its long tradition of offering heavy-duty, highly accurate machines
for many complex machining applications. A pioneer in CNC machining, Monarch has
established a well-earned reputation in providing manufacturing solutions through its
engineering of turnkey fixturing and various types of automation. |
