Monarch First Company to Ship Machines with New Controller
The Monarch Machine Tool Company (NYSE:MMO) announced today that it is the first
machine tool manufacturer in the United States to integrate GE Fanuc's latest CNC
controller, the 15i, into a production machine. GE Fanuc is the world's leading producer
of CNC controllers, drives, and associated hardware and software. "Monarch is
extremely pleased and proud to have been chosen by GE Fanuc to be the first company to
integrate this state of the art controller" said Wayne Hanna, President of Monarch,
"It is a real compliment to our people and their ability to get things done that GE
Fanuc choose us for this important new product introduction."
The announcement was made at the Cortlandville plant by Hanna and by Katsuo Koharie,
Executive Vice President of GE Fanuc Automation.
Integrating this controller into Monarch machines has reaffirmed Monarch's return as a
leader in machine tool technology. The new technology used in the controller will allow
Monarch machines to operate faster and with far better accuracy then ever before. This is
of great interest to Monarch's customer base, which includes large companies like GE
Aircraft Engines, Pratt & Whitney, Allied Signal and Teledyne. These customers are
always looking for ways to increase productivity and accuracy on production parts which
include engine blocks, gear boxes and other automotive and aerospace related parts.
Monarch plans on phasing in the new controller across its entire product over the next
few months. It is also involved in a joint development project with its European partner,
Unisign BV, to integrate the 15i into Unisign designed machines that will be manufactured
in Cortland by Monarch. Last year, Monarch purchased the rights to manufacture Unisign's
machines in the United States and is currently in the process of producing the first
units.
The Monarch Machine Tool Company engineers and manufactures high-quality vertical
machining centers, metal coil processing and roll coating equipment and paper coating and
laminating equipment. Headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, the company has manufacturing
facilities in the United States and the United Kingdom.
